Holiday in Mauritius – Day 1

Holiday in Mauritius – Day 1

Our holiday in Mauritius starts today. We are flying Air Mauritius from Heathrow Terminal 4. There are 4 of us and we have already checked in online and so dropping our cases of goes very smoothly. We are in luck, with only a short queue through security and in no time at all we are in the Sky Lounge, enjoying a drink and some food.

All this comes with the Airport Lounge Pass, which we have pre-booked. I’m asked if I want a free facial, so I go for this, clean skin and a nice relaxing experience before flying of on our holiday in Mauritius.

The plane leaves on time at 17.05 and we settle down for the 11 and a half hour flight. Drinks and dinner are served. I watch a film, I will be honest and say the in-seat screens are not very big. The plane isn’t full and we have spare seats next to us, so when time comes we can stretch out and try to get some sleep (I never sleep well on a plane). Breakfast is served at 05.30, Mauritian time, so all can be cleared and ready for our landing at 07.30. We have filled in the landing cards given out on the plane well in advance. Long queue at customs, but it goes through in reasonable time and it’s not log before we are waiting at the carousel for our luggage. We head outside to discover it is pouring with rain, still very hot, but the rain is a bit of a disappointment. We have a private transfer booked and once out the airport we are met by our driver, who take us to our hotel. After about 10 minutes the rain stops and it brightens up dramatically.

For our holiday in Mauritius we are staying at the Veranda Paul and Virginie Hotel and are met at reception by the helpful staff who offer us a cold towel and a cool drink. We are booked in and shown to our room. This is the start of our holiday in Mauritius and we quickly settle in and head to the bar for a cold drink. a few drinks and some lunch later it’s time for an afternoon nap (very tired due to lack of sleep).

Friends

We meet our friends at the bar in the evening and head for dinner in the main restaurant. Food is very nice and service is good here. All the staff are very friendly and more than happy to help you with anything. Evening entertainment is a duo, a lady who sings and a man accompanying her on the guitar. We enjoy the music, but its an early night for us.
