Golf in Mauritius
Golf in Mauritius is very popular. It’s an island with many famous courses. Mauritius was the third country in the world where golf was played, after UK and India. Going golfing in Mauritius is a dream holiday for any golfer. It has become one of the top sports and one of the main attractions for visitors to the island. The Gymkhana Golf Club was open by the British Royal Navy members in 1902 and was the first club ion the island. The Mauritius Gymkhana Golf club is the oldest in the Southern Hemisphere and the fourth oldest course in the world.
There is a really high number of courses to be found all over Mauritius, ranging from a basic 9 holes course to world class championship courses with 18 holes deigned by the world leading golfers such as Ernie Els, Bernard Langer and David Leadbetter.

The Mauritius Open, was the first ever tri-sanctioned European, Asia & Sunshine Tour event. The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open was a tournament that has been played here since 1994. From 2009 there has been a new European Seniors Tour event, named the Mauritius Commercial Bank Open. This event is hosted by the Constance Belle Mare Plage Hotel. The 54 hole event is played at the Legend and Links Golf Courses. The Four Seasons Resort Hosts the Mauritius Golf Masters at the Anahita Golf Course.
